Team G.FRO is a relatively new race team, however,
team owner and founder Geoff Fickling comes from a rich racing
history. His father, Bill Fickling, established P-1 Racing in
1980, who was an owner/driver in Formula and Sports Racing cars
since 1972, and quickly established itself a quality preparation
shop and race team winning championships in each division that
it competed in during the early 80's. The team won its first professional
Formula Atlantic race with Jimmy Vasser in 1987 which led to a
very successful run of 15 straight years of full-time Toyota Atlantic
Series competition. During that stretch, P-1 won 19 Toyota Atlantic
races and two Toyota Atlantic Championships with Mark Dismore
and the late Jovy Marcelo (1990 and 1991)

In 2000, P-1 re-established itself in the F2000 series by entering
Geoff Fickling in a Ford-powered Van Diemen in F2000 competition.
After three years of SCCA national competition and numerous victories
to show for it, the younger Fickling made his F2000 Zetec pro
series debut in 2003. From there, Geoff Fickling built a successful
multi-car F2000 Zetec team, bringing in teammates and customers
and by the end of 2004, had established itself as a perennial
front-runner in the professional ranks. The 2005 season saw the
P-1 Racing team become the only team to contest the entire eastern-based
Cooper Tire FF2000 Series as well as the Pacific F2000 Series
and scored a total of 4 victories, 11 podium finishes, and 3 pole
positions en route to a very successful season.
To begin the 2006 season, Geoff Fickling decided
to form a new team in the wake of his team's recent success, in
the name of G.FRO (Geoff Fickling Racing Operation, Inc.). G.FRO
once again contested the entire Cooper Series and Pacific F2000
Series with an expanded fleet of up to five cars. Three race wins,
three poles, and 10 podiums highlighted the season which saw G.FRO
finish an impressive 3rd place in the Cooper Series' Team Championship.
For the 2007 season, Team G.FRO plans to make its move to the
intensely popular Star Mazda Championship with a 2 or 3 car team.
Fickling's hopes to make every effort possible in order to establish
a championship-winning effort in the first year of Star Mazda
competition. That goal begins with signing the best drivers and
continues with acquiring the best driver coach, mechanics, equipment,
etc. G.FRO plans to continue running their junior-level team in
the Pacific F2000 Series in order to establish a team in both
feeder series in efforts to train, prepare and graduate young
talent onto Champcar Atlantic within the G.FRO team.
